Evidence over guesswork

About the atelier
Flatwick Atelier began with a simple observation: the most satisfying candle is not the loudest object in a room. It is the one made with attention to material, proportion, and use.
Founded by scent designer Mira Vale and materials tutor Jonah Reed, the atelier grew from weekend table sessions into a focused learning studio for people who want a dependable creative practice.
We teach the decisions behind the object: why a wax behaves differently, how a wick earns its place, and how a fragrance can remain expressive while staying balanced.
Our mission
To make skilled aromatic craft feel calm, clear, and accessible.
We document tests and explain variables so learners can make informed adjustments.
Good scent design leaves space for the room, the moment, and the person using it.
We allow time for curing, observation, questions, and a clean studio finish.
Fragrance composition
Mira teaches scent structure, vocabulary, and the patient work of refining a blend.
Wax and wick technique
Jonah helps makers understand testing, vessel behavior, and repeatable studio methods.
Product storytelling
Elena connects material decisions with clear labels, care notes, and thoughtful presentation.
Scent Ledger manifesto
Every course records its sensory identity in writing. Mood, wax family, fragrance notes, and the recommended studio ritual become a permanent, shareable ledger.
This practice turns fleeting impressions into reliable knowledge that students carry into their own making.
